2024-08-01

From Sept. 2nd to Sept. 8th, 2024, the biennial International University Sports Federation (FISU) World Championships Squash will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa. As a top-tier event in the field of university sports, it has attracted the active participation of the world's leading university squash teams.

Since squash was officially confirmed as a competition event for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics in October 2023, its international influence and attention have continued to soar. This World Championships is not only a showcase of the skills and tactics of global university squash athletes but also an important test of the achievements in sports development among universities worldwide.

It is reported that the Championships will be held at multiple venues, including the University of Johannesburg, Parkview Squash Centre, and Wanderers Squash Club. Top players from around the world will compete fiercely over a week, presenting spectators with thrilling matches. According to the current schedule, the first four days will feature men's and women's singles competitions, followed by team events in the last three days.

FISU President Leonz Eder commented, “Competing at the World University Championships is a career highlight for many university athletes. For others, it is a step up to the next level of performance. What they all have in common is that they meet like-minded people. May these competitions not only serve as a sporting comparison but also as an opportunity for intercultural exchange. This is of particular importance and significance in the challenging times we are all facing.”

The hosting of this squash World Championships will further promote the popularity and development of squash globally, while also nurturing more outstanding young athletes for the upcoming Los Angeles Olympics. We look forward to the brilliant performances of athletes from various countries on the court and anticipate that this competition will facilitate more international exchanges and cooperation.
