365 Days Countdown to Chengdu TWG: Squash Set to Shine in 2025
2024-08-07
From August 7th to 17th, 2025, Beijing time, the 12th World Games will be held in Chengdu, Sichuan, marking exactly 365 days until the opening ceremony today.
The World Games (TWG) is an international multi-sport event organized by the International World Games Association, featuring non-Olympic sports and typically held every four years. Since its successful debut in Santa Clara, California, USA, in 1981, the World Games have been held eleven times. The upcoming edition in Chengdu will make it the first city in mainland China to host TWG.
The squash competition of the World Games will take place at the Chengdu High-tech Zone Sports Center from August 8th to 12th. As a prominent sport, squash has been part of the World Games since its inclusion in the 1997 edition in Lahti, Finland, and has been featured in every edition except for the 2001 World Games in Akita, Japan. Naturally, it will be part of the competition in the 2025 Chengdu World Games as well. The squash events at the World Games include women's singles and men's singles. In the previous edition held in Birmingham, USA, Belgian athlete Tinne Gilis won the women's gold medal, while French athlete Victor Crouin clinched the men's gold medal. Malaysian legend Nicol David, known for her three World Games titles, has been named the most successful squash athlete in the history of the event.
We believe that the squash competition at Chengdu next year will fully showcase its unique charm and attract significant attention. Let's look forward to this international sporting event and witness the outstanding performances and thrilling moments of the squash athletes in Chengdu!
